Team HB’s Vicki, Amy and Callum skydive for charity

On the 2nd August intrepid members of the Team HB Accountants took part in a skydive challenge. Each person took the plunge from 13,000 feet to freefall at 120mph in support of Teens Unite. This locally based organisation in Broxbourne High Street is one of Team HB’s charity partners and supports young people with cancer and other life limiting illnesses, from diagnosis, through treatment, remission and beyond.

Vicki Foster our Office and Marketing Manager, Callum Morgan, Accountancy Apprentice and Amy Armitage, Tax Manager all took part.

Business inspiration – World Simplicity Day

There’s no doubt that our modern, complex and digitally connected world can be a stressful place to do business. But did you know that Friday 12 July is World Simplicity Day? The team at HB challenge you to take the opportunity to makes small changes that will have a big impact. Fuel for private use – what do employees pay in tax?

The amount of tax paid by employees on private fuel provided with a company car is now running at a high level based on the cash equivalent of the benefit each tax year. Those with low private mileage may find it’s no longer a benefit. That’s why many employers have put in place different options, such as no longer paying for fuel with company fuel use reclaimed or continuing to pay for fuel but having employees reimburse them for private usage. That way, the employee is not liable for the private fuel tax charge, where this would in all likelihood be higher than the value of the actual fuel used.
