Karen Chase – Director
I primarily deal with the audits and accounts services at HB and look after our team of qualified and trainee accountants. I have been with HB since university and I love everything about my role. I especially enjoy having been able to help our clients grow over the years and being able to always offer them the fantastic service and support that myself and all at HB provide.
Keith Grover – Director
There’s a lot of variety in the nature of the work that I do and the type of clients that I deal with – each day is different and has its challenges. Although I work hard, there is not a long-hours culture, which helps me to achieve a good work-life balance. And my colleagues are nice people to work with. There is also the work involved in developing the practice. This involves building strong relationships with clients and contacts, getting new clients and working with the HB team, all of which I enjoy.
Catherine Hill – Director
I am excited to be a director at HB Accountants having worked alongside Karen Chase for 20 year. I deal with the audit and accounts. Whilst carrying out audits with all of my clients, I try to help our clients improve their controls and make recommendations on how their company can improve their processes. I enjoy working with all my clients each year and trying to add value to a service that so many companies view as ‘it has to be done’.
Colin Wilkinson – Manager
I pride myself on providing the best service possible to my clients. Whether problem solving, or performing compliance work, dealing with a wide range of clients in a wide range of business sectors certainly means that there is never a dull moment. I always knew that passing my cycling proficiency test would prove vital to my career in accountancy.
Karen Robbins – Manager
I am responsible for the preparation of management accounts and financial statements for a wide and varied range of clients. I also get involved with preparing corporate and personal tax returns. I enjoy building up long-lasting relationships with my clients and like to ensure I give them the best possible service. I like the variety my role provides.
Barrie Chase – Manager
I am involved in dealing with the audits of our clients as well as preparing management accounts and annual accounts. I enjoy building relationships with all of my clients and ensuring I can provide the best service possible to them.
Amy Thompson – Tax Manager
I manage the Tax Department at HB Accountants and am CTA qualified. I started to take a keen interest in tax whilst at Reading University studying law - since graduating I have worked in finance and tax roles and enjoy the challenging work environment a career in tax offers. Here at HB Accountants we offer a wide range of tax services including: Tax Compliance, Tax Dispute and Tax Advisory services, meaning my day-to-day working life is diverse and interesting. I especially enjoy assisting our clients from start to finish with advisory projects to ensure that their tax affairs are organised in the most efficient manner possible.
Vicki Foster – Office & Marketing Manager
I joined HB Accountants in 2019 and look after the office, marketing, social media, web content & onboarding of clients, amongst other things here. I am most definitely a people person & I thoroughly enjoy the networking side of my role & connecting businesses. I run our fabulous Ladies Lunch Networking events, which are always popular - do get in touch if you would like to connect
Jane Dunn – Payroll Manager
I run the HB's payroll bureau, providing a payroll service for our clients. I enjoy working with the team at HB. Providing a reliable service and ensuring that our clients remain compliant with HMRC, is important to me.
Callum Morgan - Trainee Chartered Accountant
I joined HB Accountants in June 2018, straight after taking my GCSE's, having seen the apprenticeship position on the Goverment website. Fast forward 5 years and I am qualified Accountant Technician and currently studying my Chartered exams. I enjoy supporting colleagues on audit & accounts projects, which varies client to client.

Abby Debnam – Trainee Chartered Accountant
I joined Team HB in September 2018 after completing my A Levels, and have thoroughly enjoyed working here ever since. I am qualified AAT Level 4 and working toward my Chartered qualification. I work in audit and accounts both in and out of the office. Taking part in charity and community events is another aspect to HB and I am proud to be able to do my part in supporting our chosen charity Teens Unite, and the local Hertfordshire area. Max Dean – Trainee Accountant
I joined HB Accountants, after passing my A Levels, as I wanted to pursue a career in accountancy. I have completed my AAT Level 3 and I am enjoying my AAT Level 4 studies. I love working with a close-knit audit team and visiting clients.
I am looking forward to qualifying AAT Level 4 and my journey to becoming a Chartered Accountant thereafter.
Cameron Vernon - Trainee Accountant
Having finish my A Levels, I decided on pursuing the apprenticeship journey instead of heading to university. I spotted the trainee accountant apprenticeship position at HB Accountants on the Government Website and the rest is history!
I am currently working towards my AAT Level 2 qualification and am looking forward to learning on the job, with the best team of people by my side
Matt Ahl - Trainee Accountant
I joined at HB Accountants as a business administration apprentice in June '22. Fast forward 16 months and I have completed my apprenticeship. As a business administration apprentice, I've experienced how an accountancy practice works, how important our compliance requirements are and I am delighted that I was given the opportunity to interview for a trainee accountant position - which I was offered and I have accepted!
Octoer '23 marked the start of my Level 2 AAT journey and I am excited to continue to learn, whilst I work.

Sophie Blackmore - Business Administration Apprentice
Having spent 4 and a half years in a retail position, I jumped at the opportunity to land an apprenticeship role in an industry that would interest me! I am now a Business Administration apprentice and I am thoroughly enjoying my time here at HB Accountants. I’m excited to complete my Level 3 Qualification, learn new skills, and make connections with people in the office and at networking and charity events

Gavin Gardner - Trainee Accountant
I have just joined HB Accountants as an AAT Level 2 Apprentice after finishing my A-levels.
I am excited to head towards my Level 2 qualifiation and learn new skills within a great team.
