We are delighted to welcome another talented addition to Team HB Accountants, Harrison. He is one of our two new Trainee Accountant Apprentices who have joined HB Accountants this month. Like his fellow apprentice Gavin, Harrison joins us fresh from The Bishops Stortford High School, having recently completed his A Levels.
Is an Apprenticeship better than University?
Deciding between pursuing an apprenticeship or going to university is a major decision, and one that depends on personal goals and preferences. Harrison chose the apprenticeship path, seeing it as an ideal way to gain hands-on experience while developing practical skills that are crucial for success in the business world. We’re thrilled to have him on board at HB and look forward to watching him grow in his role. With his passion and commitment, we’re confident he’ll become an invaluable member of our team.
Harrison says “HB Accountants’ great reputation and high rankings in the Top 50 SME Apprenticeship Employers for 2023 and also for 2024 made it a standout accountancy for me. I am eager to be a part of a team that is making such a positive impact.
Working in accounting and finance gives me a chance to learn from experienced professionals. Given HB Accountants’ reputation, I know it will provide me with great growth opportunities, which I plan to use to support both the organisations day to day operations and long-term goals.”
What To Expect When Starting An Apprenticeship
My first two weeks have sped by, mainly thanks to my Director Karen Chase ensuring I always have work to be doing and keeping me busy. I am looking forward to developing my time management, logical reasoning and budgeting as I believe in the accounting and finance industry, these skills are vital to success.
My experience so far has been fantastic. I have had the pleasure of building a file on a client and completed courses on anti-money laundering, ledger accounts, bookkeeping – the first principal sand dealing with and managing distractions.
I already feel part of the team, everyone is very welcoming and made my settling-in period really easy.
What Is Something That Not Everyone Knows About You?
In my spare time I love watching movies, playing football and going to the gym. Something that not everyone knows about me is that from year 1 to Year 6, I have won every sports day and had 100% attendance, hence my nick name “Mr Reliable”.
If I wasn’t an accountant, I would love to play professional football. My career aspirations are centred around continued growth and skill enhancement. I am committed to staying updated with the latest trends and technologies in the industry.
Would You Recommend An Apprenticeship with HB Accountants?
Definitely! If you’re thinking about starting an apprenticeship, my advice is to challenge yourself and seize the opportunity. Apprenticeships can be highly competitive, so if you’re offered an interview, don’t hesitate – give it your all!
