At HB Accountants, we love welcoming new faces to the team, and today, we are thrilled to introduce one of our two new Trainee Accountant Apprentices, Gavin! He has joined us after completing his A Levels at Birchwood High School in Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire and we are excited to see him thrive here at HB.

Hear from Gavin on Why He Chose the Apprenticeship Route and His Aspirations for the Future:
“I’ve recently started my apprenticeship with HB Accountants, and I’m really enjoying it so far! From my very first interview, I felt genuinely welcomed. Everyone here has been incredibly supportive, making my first month even smoother than I expected.
My dad initially suggested looking into accountancy because I wasn’t entirely sure what I wanted to pursue. So far, it’s proven to be a great decision. Accountancy is equipping me with valuable skills and insights into the business world. I believe the apprenticeship route is an incredible opportunity—it allows me to gain relevant AAT qualifications while simultaneously getting hands-on, practical experience. For example, I’ve already attended networking meetings, which is helping me connect with local businesses and clients, while building crucial communication skills.
Outside of work, I’m a huge sports fan. I play a lot of football and golf, and I’m on a never-ending quest to improve at both! As a die-hard West Ham supporter, I make sure to attend all the home matches, and I’m excited about the season ahead. I’m also passionate about music and love going to concerts and festivals.
In the past, I’ve worked as a football coach, which I found incredibly fulfilling. Maybe one day, I’ll own my own business, leading and managing a team of my own.”
At HB Accountants, we have a long-standing commitment to recruiting and developing young talent. For over 100 years, this focus has been at the heart of our firm’s success. Our bespoke apprenticeship programme is designed not only to provide top-tier training but also to ensure that our apprentices gain hands-on experience and develop the skills needed to thrive in the accounting world. By investing in apprenticeships, we secure a strong future for our practice while continuing to deliver the high standards our clients expect.
We are delighted to have Gavin join the team and are eager to see all that he will accomplish in the coming years!
