Matt joined us 12 months ago on a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship after realising that sixth form was not the best option for him. Aware of the opportunities than an apprenticeship offers including the chance to make connections whilst learning new skills, he decided to join HB.
“I have been at HB for 12 months today! Over this time, I have acquired a completely new skill set, from the importance of having a good telephone manner to how to communicate with clients be it in email or within a letter. I’ve also learned how using graphics can enhance delivering information and how to upload web content – real experience in a real workplace.”

Apprentice Training with HB Accountants
During Matt’s training, he has supported HB and our clients including represented HB at two careers fair events for Hertfordshire Council and a third at a senior school in Bishops Stortford. This gave Matt a really good opportunity to meet other businesses and apprentices. He really enjoyed talking about his journey from school to business and his day-to-day role to younger people considering apprenticeship.
Matt, from Hertfordshire, has quickly and efficiently become an integral member of the team and is now fully supporting me in my role as Office and Marketing Manager. So watch out for lots of new campaigns now I have a bit more time on my hands! Let’s leave the last words to Matt:
“During my time at HB I feel I have improved personally. I have new skills and new connections. With the support of my manager, I am ready to start my presentation project, part of my apprenticeship. I have chosen to showcase how I have changed or improved a current procedure and need to demonstrate how I have taken this from start to end. I am confident that I will be able to finish my course by the end of this summer. I am also updating my CV, with help from Vicki, which will be a huge help for whatever the future holds for me. Accountancy has always been an interest of mine so I may be looking for an accountancy apprenticeship. Watch this space!

Also for all of the connections they encourage me to make whilst networking and during events. All this is hugely positive. It’s been a fantastic apprenticeship delivering great opportunities.”
